Covid Positive In May? | A Monthly Update

I can’t forget about my month of May Update! This update may be a short one, and I will tell you why later in the update. The first two weeks were very eventful. It started with attending the Rosé Festival, which you can read about here. Then during the second week, I took a quick trip to Dallas for a weekend getaway.

Downtown Dallas

The weather FINALLY started to warm up, and I couldn’t be more thrilled about it. I was so tired of being cold. However, I can say that I finally experienced living in all four seasons: Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring. That’s a change for a SoFlo Native like myself. I’m used to year-round summer and three days of winter-like temperatures.

Now that I’m seasoned, get it? Seasoned 😂 that was a good one! Well at least it cracked me up. Anywho, now that I’m seasoned, I can give you an educated opinion. If you ask me what my favorite season is, I’d have to say Fall. It’s breathtakingly beautiful in the Fall, and the temperatures are just right. My least favorite season would be Winter; because temperatures below 60 should be a downright crime! I literally went back to Florida solely for Thanksgiving and stayed until New Year’s just to escape.

WHAT I WATCHED:

Television’s best show has finally come to an end. This Is Us aired its final episode this month. The whirlwind this show has taken us on during the past six seasons is unmatched. I know I have bragged about it before, and that’s okay because it deserves every bit of discussion.

It’s a story that television has never seen before. A story filled with relatable character development. The one thing that will make it stand out for years to come, is that it’s the only show that depicts the aging process on television. It does so delicately and deliberately. Mark my words, it will go down in history as the greatest familial love story television has seen.

WHAT I BOUGHT:

This month I wanted to focus on implementing a skincare routine. During the winter, I noticed I was becoming pale (due to the lack of sun outside). Once the sun came back out, I began growing freckles rapidly. While people are always in awe of my freckles, I am self-conscious about them. Not to mention that I started wearing makeup a lot more, which also changes your skin. So I did some research, and with the guidance of a few friends, I figured out the items I needed.

I also have sensitive skin (I really belong in a bubble, but I digress). This makes it harder to purchase products because my skin will react to any little thing.

I am currently testing out the Cetaphil and Aveeno moisturizer and cleanser. For my sunscreen, I am using Black Girl Sunscreen SPF 40. I am hoping to even my skin tone with the regimen and will monitor the progress for the next month.

WHERE I WENT:

Dallas! This was my second time there, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. There was so much to see and do. Every place we went had a great vibe, and the people were pleasant.

I will say that I didn’t experience any good food. That would be the downside of the trip. On the other hand, Dallas had some of the best drinks I have tasted thus far. The bartenders are very skilled! Here are a few photos from the trip:

WHAT YOU MISSED:

Welp! COVID finally got me. I only got to participate in the first two weeks of the month. I was confined to the house for the last two weeks.

Somewhere during that trip to Dallas, I contracted Covid. That was over two weeks ago. To this very day, I haven’t stopped testing positive. It has been a very trying time for me. I will admit that as a sick person, I am not the most composed adult. I go from an adult to a 5-year-old child with the first sign of sickness.

I had a lot of support during the first week when I was symptomatic. I truly appreciate my friends and family near and far for showing up in the way they did. I wanted for nothing during this whole ordeal.

Currently, I am going stir crazy in the house. I’m sure this was God’s way of sitting me down and telling me that I’m doing too much. If you’re reading this and need someone to talk to just know that I am in the house 24/7 and AVAILABLE 😩 . I’m eagerly accepting entertaining stories, calls, and messages. I am also praying for a negative test result soon because Summer is here, and outside is calling!

 WHAT’S ON MY MIND:

Why does sitting still make me so uncomfortable? It seems as if I am only happy when I am on the move and doing something. The moment you put me in the house I feel like I’m in timeout.

It also seems to shift my mental state. My thoughts begin to say, “You aren’t doing anything, you’re wasting time, and you’re not living life.” It becomes a problem as you begin to ignore the request for rest that your body is asking for.

If this time in isolation has taught me anything, it’s how uncomfortable it can be to sit down; because then you’re forced to deal with all the thoughts and feelings that surface in that quiet time. Having to wrestle with them can be mentally draining, which is why being “on go” has become the solution.

Does this happen to you as well? Have you figured out why?
